Public can observe as Duval County elections officials test voting machines Friday afternoon

Duval County election workers will test out voting machines Friday afternoon ahead of next month’s primary to make sure they are working accurately.

It’s meant to be a transparent process and is open to the public.

The testing is happening on 19 machines at 1:30 p.m. at the Election Center on Imeson Park Boulevard.

Election workers debuted a new touchscreen voting system earlier this year in February for the special City Council election.

The Duval County supervisor of elections office said the new machines are designed to help voters with special needs.

The primary and special election for Sheriff are both on Aug. 23.
