Idalia strengthened into a Category 4 hurricane Wednesday morning on a trek toward Florida, where it is expected to strike the Big Bend area of the state.
As of Wednesday at 5 a.m., Idalia was about 90 miles west-southwest of Cedar Key, Florida, moving north-northeast at 17 mph while packing 130 mph winds. Hurricane-force winds extend outward 25 miles from the center, while tropical storm-force winds extend 160 miles from the center of the storm.
