Israeli airstrike in central Gaza kills one of Hamas’ top militant commanders

Hamas’ military wing, the Qassam Brigades, says that an Israeli airstrike in the central Gaza Strip has killed one of its top militant commanders.

Ayman Nofal is the most high-profile Hamas militant to be killed so far in Israeli bombardment on the Gaza Strip.

Nofal, known by his nom de guerre Abu Mohammed, was killed Tuesday in Israeli strikes that targeted the Bureij camp in the central Gaza Strip, the militant group said in a statement.
