Florida scientists aim to create the perfect blueberry

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Citrus may be king in Florida, but there’s another fruit on the rise in our state. “The market, whether it’s Walmart, Aldi, any of them, Publix, they’re all looking for improved quality,” Leonard Park of the Florida Blueberry Growers Association said. “If you have the quality, people buy it, they come back.” Blueberry farms all over Florida are hard at work to grow the best fruit money can buy, with more challenges. “It’s getting more and more expensive,” Park said, “everything from fertilizer to labor, transportation, just dramatic increases.” Park runs Frogmore Fresh Farms in Dade
