LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Some Florida lawmakers want to strip nurse practitioners who earned their doctorate from using the title doctor. A house bill would forbid them from publicly displaying the title doctor at the front of their names. Nurse practitioners are crying foul and arguing they’ve earned the title and should be able to use it. If the bill passes, nurse practitioners cannot print business cards with the title “Dr.” Nor would they be able to put the title on their door or practice.
