LEE COUNTY, Fla. — While residents are cleaning their homes, Lee County Government wants to let them know that sand should not be returned to the beaches without a permit due to environmental dangers. Although it may seem harmless, storm sand contains construction shards, glass, debris, and chemicals. Local governments or those with a proper permit are allowed to return overwashed sand to the beaches. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has a Post-storm guide for homeowners wishing to help with recovery activities. The post Permit needed to return overwashed sand to beaches appeared first on ABC7 Southwest Florida.
