Tropical Storm Idalia is set to strengthen into a Category 3 hurricane and make landfall in Florida, so President Joe Biden approved an emergency declaration and Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in 46 counties.
Idalia, strengthening with high temperatures in the Gulf of Mexico, is set to reach Florida’s western coast on Wednesday. After The National Hurricane Center issued a hurricane warning, Pasco County officials ordered residents in low-lying areas and mobile homes to evacuate.
